Straight Batons
Similar to a side handle baton, A baton or truncheon (nightstick or billy-club in American English) is essentially a stick of less than arms-length. A baton may be used to strike, jab, block, and aid in the application of arm locks. Batons are less expensive than Tasers to buy or to use, and carry none of the risk of cross-contamination of OC aerosol canisters (pepper spray) in confined areas. Tasers and OC canisters can run out of ammunition. Batons can't. Batons are more likely to injure than Tasers and OC, and can bruise and break bones. Suspects that suffer Tasers and OC suffer nothing beyond physical pain and (in the case of OC) temporary inflammation of the face, eyes, and respiratory system. JL carries straight batons made of both wood and plastic.
